Red Sky! Red Sky!

It came to me in a dream ~

The sky was dark and filled with smoke ~ there were eight smokestacks moving towards me from the North, they were moving in a straight line, like an army.  The first two had black smoke billowing out, the third had blue smoke at an angle, and the rest had white smoke in various stages of rising - except for the last two, which had smoke oozing back down the chimneys. In the next part of the dream there was chaos.  Something had happened, everyone was in the woods traveling in small tribes.  Our bunch was on a trail going east.  We came to a sign, the road divided, our children went one way, and we caught a ride on the back of an army truck going the other way.

I think governments are neatly side stepping the issue of dealing with the ‘black smoke’, and it’s primarily to protect the status quo.  It's easy to see the politics behind it. Governments control the economies of their regions, and by and large they've got the public agreeing with their actions.  Unfortunately in a capitalist democracy such as ours, it's always the greedy that end up being in control - those who place profit above caring.

Governments throughout the world are continuing to deceive people into accepting economic solutions over environmental ones. It’s clear to me that the economic community in the world is organizing rapidly - primarily to maintain control over their economic interests - But at what expense?  To take all they can and run?

The future of the Earth is at stake here. If protection for the Environment is not constitutionally ensured throughout the world, I think we will inevitably all go down.

Governments as well as corporations are only paying lip service to the Environment.  There should be less emphasis placed on gasoline vehicles. We should be promoting the Swedish solution, developing more electrical transportation systems. Oil companies have had enough breaks. The atmosphere needs a rest.

There should be no more clear-cutting allowed.  Trees are the lungs of the world.  Our forests are disappearing at an alarming rate.  We should be learning to appreciate the forests more, rather than cutting them down for such useless articles as shopping flyers, which contribute to 90% of the junk mail, and which consequently end up in the garbage anyway.

Scientists the world over are warning us against the consequences of destroying the ozone layer, a protective layer that filters out the sun's harmful ultra violet rays. It also separates the cold from the very hot layers in the upper atmosphere. Once the ozone layer gets weaker, it will definitely have an effect on the weather.

Air masses will tend to collect in globs of hot and cold pockets, because our natural distribution system is being disrupted. There will be pockets of hot inversions, and pockets of cold air. This will create tremendous wind shears, and sudden deluges of moisture will occur in spots, which don't normally get them. And that's because polluted air can hold thousands of more water droplets than pure air. There could be no more gradual changes in the weather; just extreme and sudden changes of hot and cold air.

Can the wind harm us?  I believe it can.  Sheer winds are already beginning to happen, in Asia, in Europe, and in North America.  Scientists call it El Nino, it's not El Nino, it's the filth in the atmosphere. Global warming is just a polite way of saying our atmosphere is polluted.

Wind sheers are happening throughout the world, because our Planet is no longer able to regulate its mean temperature. Our lower atmosphere is very thin, compared to the layers above.  Imagine the power that's sitting up there.

I think our Earth could be in trouble.  We need to think about what we're doing.  It's the next generation that will suffer because of our inability to deal with environmental pollution.  I don't think scientists have been honest in their explanations. Some of them say our atmosphere is in trouble and some of them say it isn't. As far as I know science should be a precise art.  How can there be more than one perspective. Obviously someone is being bought off.

Our atmosphere could start to breed organisms once it’s fully saturated with pollutants, organisms that could threaten the life of this Planet. When water becomes stale it turns murky, and soon after, slime begins to form. All kinds of organisms start to spread through the water. The same thing could start happening to our atmosphere.  Inversions are hanging around longer and longer.

It may not be long before Wall Street starts shouting - "Red Sky! Red Sky! - Buy Buckerfields, buy Buckerfields!"

Why are they so slow in coming to an understanding of the atmosphere?  It's called money. It could cost them a lot of money to clean up the atmosphere.

I don't think any of us wants to believe that it's really happening.  But check out the weather. Is it just another cycle, or are the cycles leading up to something more serious?  Once the atmosphere becomes stagnant, there might not be any more winds.  Right now wind shears are increasing, because the hot air is rubbing up against the cold air much more violently.  But once the whole atmosphere gets covered.  Everything could stop moving.

What they aren't telling us is what could happen once the air becomes stale.  I don't think anyone knows for sure.  But there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the Earth’s temperature is on the rise.  A hot planet would definitely lose its polar ice caps.  And what about the rain, would it keep falling? What would happen to the rivers, once the snow leaves the mountaintops?

There are all kinds of environmental disasters happening in the world, but the most serious is what we are doing to our air - our blue Earth could become a red planet, if something isn't done immediately.

It doesn't seem likely that we're going to be able to take the toys away from our squandering society. If we are going to change and become a clean planet; we're going to have to learn how to live differently.  And that's the hard part.  We've lost our connections with the Land.

It's a joke to watch governments side step the issue.  Eliminating exhaust emissions is only part of the problem.  It's the black smoke, the blue smoke, and the white smoke, which are the real culprits.  But governments are reluctant to act, because the automobile industry, as well as many of the other majors industries that pollute the air, are crucial to the survival of our economy.

There is a strain of evil running through our society that is forsaking the health of the Nation for the sake of greed.  It's ironic that the evil in the world is feeding on itself in such a destructive way.  Fighting over the very thing, which will eventually choke us all. Oil is not the answer and neither is war.  It's greed, which is holding us back from doing the right thing.

When speaking to your politicians; you'll always get the same answer; "We need to keep the economy rolling". That’s fine, but when are we going to get it through our heads that we can't continue to waste our resources, at the expense of our environment? When the Land suffers, so do its People.

I'm afraid the corporate green movement is just another form of deceit.  The answer lies, not only in creating greener products, but to change our life style completely.  And that means giving up unnecessary consumption.

In the long run recycling isn't going to solve the problem. It's just another excuse to keep on consuming.  We could recycle the world a thousand times over, but unless factories and cars stop spewing out pollutants, we could be in real trouble.  How did we get ourselves into this mess? I don’t know, but I think our own Native Peoples may be able to provide us with a more holistic approach -

Native concerns best express the universal truth, that the Earth and humanity are one.  Yet our concerns regarding the Earth have no constitutional framework.  It's easy to see why.  There is a strong emphasis in the world to put down such an agreement, because it could effectively put control over the environment into the hands of the People - where it belongs. Hence, we need an agreement that can protect those Concerns.

The degradation of our environment will affect us all in the future. Governments and corporations are not moving quickly enough to protect Our environment.

We are already experiencing a certain level of human suffering as a result of global warming.  If we choose to ignore entrenching our environmental concerns (constitutionally) then our environment will continue to deteriorate. Should we decide to make the shift towards a more holistic lifestyle, governments throughout the world will benefit, because our social costs will go down.

We need to think smart. There is no way that oil can continue to be our primary source of energy.  It will soon become apparent that our health is suffering because of oil pollutants in the atmosphere.

We are on the way towards stabilizing our global economy, but our priorities are all screwed up. And that's because we have not yet accepted the seriousness of what we are doing to our Environment.

With all the technology that's available today, we could have this world back on track with very little effort.

The choice is ours ~ the Earth is waiting for our care.
